Zelong is a Materials Technologist who specialises in aluminium surfaces.
He joined Innoval Technology in 2022 as a Materials Technologist where his role includes involvement in UK government-funded collaborative R&D projects.
Zelong obtained a BSc in Materials Science and Engineering in 2014, an MSc in Corrosion Protection Engineering in 2015 and a PhD in Corrosion and Protection in 2019 from the University of Manchester. During his PhD, Zelong was sponsored by Novelis to investigate the effect of microstructure on various surface treatments of aluminium alloys.
From 2020 to 2022, Zelong worked at the University of Manchester as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, collaborating with Hydro. During this time, he investigated the corrosion behaviours of various aluminium alloys for automotive heat exchangers and the corrosion behaviours of recycled aluminium alloys.
Zelong now applies his experience in materials microstructure characterisation, corrosion testing and data analysis to provide technical support to the Innoval’s clients within the aluminium industry.
